Norm, I first saw it attributed to Maritz by an (unnamed) Intel executive in a (NYT I think) press account, referring to a (conventional verbal) conversation. It may have become one of those internal slogans, though, like Ballmer's "Embrace and Demolish". All 'softies still deny ever having heard that one, maybe it was restricted to "relatively junior executives".
