Familiar, objective, logical analysis appears below. Look as far bask as July 1998 in this thread.

From Barrons 1/25/99:

"Meanwhile, a handful of Japanese companies with considerable manufacturing and financial clout are thought to be working to develop this next generation of batteries, including, among others, Sony, Toshiba, Sanyo Electric and Matsushita. At least two Japanese companies have bought the Bellcore license, while others are pursuing competing technologies.

"It's likely that the Japanese will control the pace of the rollout of the technology in this industry, the way Intel controls the chip industry," predicts a veteran of the battery industry, who warns that no one should view the lack of announcements from the Land of the Rising Sun as evidence that the Japanese aren't making progress. "You have to remember that Sony kept a very low profile before it introduced the lithium ion battery."

FMK, Lev according to the description of the article on this thread, it doesn't sound like Lev "turned down an interview." After all, he was quoted to say "recently" they will be producing commercial quantities in about 2 quarters.

Of course two quarters from now is a significantly longer period of time than the next few weeks, which your sources have said. One has to wonder how their financial resources will withstand another 2 quarters of no revenue.
