Nothing to do with ASX4000 line of products and the area of discussion. Calling that a "Great example!" is like saying the sun and the moon are half twin brothers because they both stay up in the sky. How about the stellar stars; needs more information to back it up, where is the beef?

Alex, I agree with you that FORE is no Ascend. Ascend was the only company that could compete with CSCO and beat CSCO with its GX550 switches in the core. I think that ASND is the only company currently shipping swithes that hook directly to the fiber.

The reason Lucent paid such a high price for ASND, was for its talent and its big customers. I was hoping that ASND might go alone. They had a chance to become the next CSCO. They could have bought XYLN or somebody else and really diversified their products.

I jumped out of ASND way too early. I rode it up from 24ish to 49 ish and back down to 32ish about 3 times this year and decided to jump ship at 49 next time. I missed the quick ride to 80.

I think the merger activity in the networking sector will continue if the market doesn't crash. FORE and XYLN are the best buys in this sector right now.
