Mike,
I am with you. I think right now is a really good time to load up on Biotechs-- although I do get discouraged. Many are winning approvals as we speak. And, once the Internet bubble bursts or the speculative money looks elsewhere the Biotechs are the logical place to turn. These companies are literally going to change the world. And, there is a chance to get in with the prices relatively depressed. The problem is that we may have to wait longer than our attention span allows.

In any case, I have heard that LGND will win an approval this coming week. I am thinking about buying some more. Of course, I have done that in the past only to see the price decline proportionate to my investment.

Regards,
Len

Mike: PAIR

First let me say that I am a newbie. I won't speculate on what the stock will or won't do because I have very little experience in that area.

As far as DSL growth - for the next couple of years at least - it should grow quite a bit. I'm in the telecommunications business in Florida and know that BellSouth, as well as most RBOCS, has plans to expand in a number of areas in the southeast US in 1999 and 2000. The real competition comes from cable modems. There are pros and cons to both and the jury is still out on which will win. I would expect DSL to be around for a number of years - win or loose.

Hope this helps and not clouds the issue.

Mike: PAIR, I also like this stock and have it in my long term portfolio with WSTL.

How do you see ADSL market?

I strongly believe ADSL market will really take off around fall of this year. Can you imagine 20 to 40 times faster modem that will run on regular old copper phone lines? These stuffs are already out there beginning to make some noise.

I think the whole xDSL industry will benefit. Just take a look at the frontrunner, AWRE. Others will follow soon.

Pairgain Maybe a good daytrading stock, but I also like it as a long term stock, say 6 months to a year.

Jon

Mike,
Just want to say thanks for your biotech stock updates. It is refreshing to read about something other than inets and tech stocks. Your posts have got me thinking about the biotechs and may be looking to buy some myself in the future.

BTW.. thanks for sharing why you are into buying biotechs...gives me hope....

Enjoying your posts..MMK
