3/4 of the people poled like their current economic situation, bellies full, opportunity to feed themselves, send their kids to University, etc.

You would not want to live in the type of society that had Starr knocking on your door under his type of imprisonment threats if you don't put the right spin on the story he wants you to tell. When the House speaks about a cancer on people in public office, I think the above is the real threat, not Clintons hiding an embarrassing mutually agreed to sexual fondling with an intern who sought him out. They didn't even have sex for heavens sake. Hyde admitted to what appears to be sexual intercourse outside his marriage, Livingston had several sexual intercourse escapades, and it appears that pro-life Barr signed the check for an abortion of his first wife while he was having an affair with his current wife.

So as a person living outside the US, neither Republican or Democrat in my allegiance , this appears to be unsurpassed in terms of Republicans continuing to basically disrupt their country. Their approval continues to drop, down into the low 20%, while Clintons approval continues in the strong mid-70%. And if the best the Republicans can do is come forth with Dan Quayle as a candidate, they are indeed in deep disarray.

Simply Clinton is in tune with what the vast majority of the country wants, and the Republicans aren't, and they don't know how to organize to get in tune, ie no leadership.

And actually this is quite unfortunate, because they could get wiped out in the next elections, the Democrats become dominant, then you don't have the correct balance to keep the the Democrats from becoming corrupt.

Such is the cycle of politics I guess.

With the Internet stock bubble on the verge of collapse, oil still in the glut situation, Brazil (and others in South America possibly), Asia, China, Russia, economies in question and now perhaps the Republicans continuing the disruption in the Senate, we may yet still see a panic to the safe haven of gold.

This is going to be a situation to watch very carefully.
