This is fascinating. But the article didn't mention the risk involved if new life forms are created that may interact negatively with human life if it escapes from the lab (such as a synthetic life virus or bacteria).

I would much prefer they do this research in space.

(Can Blade Runner be that far off? Hmmmmm...)

So now the scientists are going to screw up again by inventing a new lethal strain of pneumonia that will wipe out a third of mankind, thus fulfilling a prophecy of the end times in the book of Revelation. Oops! It's not bad enough that scientists invented the aids virus? They are like children playing with fire.
