re-read post 153, i think it was. think he made twelve percent when near bankrupt? think he is the only one that has happened to? how much weight do you think a positive sum mkt carried for him?think he cares if the net gain of a stock was 29 and his loss was 20? for someone to make twelve percent, someone else is losing it plus commission. i don't understand how you guys think everyone is making money. THERE HAS TO BE A LOSER. geez, is the nikkei a positive sum market? tell it to the people who got a 75pct haircut. there will always be a loser, always. what will make it positive sum is how you manage your money and nothing else. if you don't have proper money mgmt, it doesn't matter how good your system is or how much the mkt moves up, you will lose money. and while you are losing money historical figures don't mean a whole heckuva lot. your post has nothing to do with daytrading and i am aware of the figures,i have studied on the fundamental and technical sides.regardless, someone is losing money.
let me just finish this up by saying, i have read a couple books on gaming theories, and most of the books i have read indicate not to get into a game where money is being taken off the table by the house. i am by no means saying you can't make money because of commissions. but it does not put the odds in your favor over any term when money is being drained off the table. to think everyone is making money is blind. some will make tons of money. some will lose, yes, its true, people lose money...some almost to the point of bankruptcy.
