I finally got thru at 1:30 am pst this morning. Thanks for your thoughts tho'. I think it's an issue with win98. CD rom was included but system keeps asking for the driver. Will tinker with it today.

Thanks for keeping us abreast on bargains.

Have a good REST of the weekend,

Regards, /jw

Dave, any thoughts on IDE CDRW drives?

I am about to give up on my SCSI Ricoh 62xx drive. I still get a SCSI error message at the end of a write in my ABIT BH6/AHA2940U2W setup. I can't even install my Adaptec AHA2920 card in the ABIT board. It locks on boot. I tried all the slots. The 2940 card kinda works...for some reason the Adaptec SCSI bios will not load.

I think I will try a Mylex BT-932 card dual channel SCSI card.

I am off to the Pomona computer fair for the first time. I have a feeling I will spend some money.

Sony makes an IDE RW drive 24X/4X/2X (buy.com $293). HP has the 24X/4X/2X 8100i (best price PriceWatch $308). Do you have a preference?

>>Ensonic PCI

For some reason I had horrible luck with this card on NT.
Some sort of severe interference between (serial Kensington)
mouse and sound card. Noise when mouse moved; sound cut
out when dragging; BSODs several times a day.

I never did figure it out, but solved the problem another
way <g>.

At this price I'm tempted to try again, oh bargainmaster <g>.
CL must be trying to dump their stock. I should
have dumped their stock at 28, CREAF I mean <gg>.
