I warned some time back of reading somewhere that there were
problems with Adeptec cards and BH6. I couldn't finger
the reference at the time, but it sounds like it's true.

NECX direct has the 932 kit for $145 in stock. I couldn't find
it elsewhere, but I'm not as good at digging those things
up as some here are <g>. I settled finally on the BT930,
but of course I don't have a BH6 yet. I think Jon (Minotaur) is up
to about 55 on the current list; my number is 99. I
have a Smart And Friendly (their name, not mine) 62xx SCSI
CD-R to try out in that combo. I'd hate to use an IDE slot,
esp. with a SCSI scanner and two CDroms.

We shall see. BTW, surely you tried the CD after the error,
yes?

I know what it is -- it's that virtual desktop <gg>.

Edit. I think the 930/932 are limited to 9gig disks, FWIW.

ZP, very sorry to hear of your BH6/adaptec problems. That's a pretty odd conflict--both of these are high volume products, and you'd think that they would have worked something out by now (BTW, did you try the brand-new bh6 bios (4th version)? Perhaps that would help.

I know nothing about the Sony IDE, but I found the HP quite acceptable, with good decent software--especially now that the newest busmaster drivers (I got them on HP's site) will work nicely with them.

I ended up returning it because I wanted a SCSI solution. Haven't proceded since--my need isn't urgent, and I'm leaning towards either a DVD-RAM that will do CD's (if one comes out soon--unlikely) or perhaps one of the rewritable Plextors due out soon.

LMK if I can follow up, and have a great time at the fair.
