I believe The Chief mentioned one time that a person does not necessarily need to declare themselves as a Pro trader or Day trader as a job. Apparently the tax advantage is not that great, and income is taxed at a higher rate than capital gains. The trade off of being able to write off certain things like computers, subscriptions, internet, etc... is not as advantageous as it sounds. A person would have to register a business to claim these things.

I personally will be claiming capital gains, not income.
