The intent of the law was (or should be) to force media to disclose "conflicts of interest".

i think that you will agree that the MOST SERIOUS conflicts of interest - are those in the "mainstream" media.. THAT is where investors get biased reporting and as a result suffer.

promotional financial media is like an infommercial - -it is designed to create awareness for public companies that mainstream media does not cover. young, promissing companies that are the engine of america's growth. the media has a NEGATIVE bias towards these companies. the only way they can get any public awareness is by paying for it directly.

please note that ALL publicity costs money - companies pay HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to PR firms to get stories placed in the media. MICROSOFT employs an army of THOUSANDS of PR people to shape their image and stories in the media.

what i would like to ask you (or anyone) is: if a magazine, etc. TELLS you CLEARLY that a company HAS paid to have a "advertorial" story/feature published - what differnce will it make to you HOW much they have been paid? please try to answer that question honestly and objectively.
