If the whole truth were told in their announcements they could be allowed to speak for themselves. Those who are honest and above board have no need to color the news or obscure the facts. If crap shooting is your game this is the place to be but, Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining outside" as a very learned judge wrote in the title to her book.

CSI Adopts Echelon's LonPoint System for Open, Interoperable Building Control Systems

Alliance Allows CSI to Deliver Whole-Building Automation Systems Based On the LonMark Standard Today

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 25, 1999-- Echelon Corporation (Nasdaq: ELON - news) and CSI Control Systems International announced today that they have entered into an agreement to accelerate the adoption of open building control systems based on Echelon's LonWorks® networks.

The agreement will enable CSI to immediately deliver open whole-building control systems based on the LonMark guidelines for interoperability. The agreement represents a major step, making it easier for building owners worldwide to enjoy the benefits of open, interoperable systems.

Under the agreement, CSI will resell Echelon's LonPoint System and LonMaker(TM) for Windows® integration tool through its worldwide channel of systems integrators as part of open, complete building automation based on LonMark products from CSI and other vendors. In addition, CSI and Echelon have agreed to work together on marketing programs designed to increase the specification and adoption of open LonWorks products and systems into the building controls market.

''We recognized early-on that there would only be one dominant protocol in the building controls industry,'' said Wayne Stevenson, CSI's chairman of the board and chief executive officer. ''The global consensus is that the LonWorks System is the winner among the majority of systems integrators, building owners, and building managers everywhere. This new partnership with Echelon will allow us to deliver 100% LonWorks, 100% open, 100% total building control solutions to our customers.''
