Hey, could you tell me if the cable you're talking about is fiber or copper or what?
Thanks

I must emphasize that cable is cheap and powerful as compared with low-orbit satellite systems.

We fundamentally agree. 20 year longevity for cable seems on the high side, but I dunno. I'm banking on wireless-anywhere simply because the ultimate goal is to be able to carry the internet in your pocket, or drive around with it always on. Think Star Trek;-) Communicators sewn on to our shirts is after all, the end goal, isn't it?

I think Cable Telephone would probably be ready in a couple of years.
Another reasonable simple application I'd like to have is to
download movie over the high speed cable link. W/ writable
DVD driver, I could watch movies on my laptop while I'm
travelling, or point & click to download a few movies to my DVD
on Fri afternoon. Watch them during weekends.
