** OT **

My theory is that the MMMMMMs disrupted the market's brain waves causing the markets to behave irrationally. Since LTCM's computer models were based on logic and reason they were doomed to fail. Lewis Carrol's spirit lives on as an MMMMMM. Obviously, this analysis proves beyond doubt that any time the market moves in unexpected directions the MMMMMMs are behind it.

Actually, the article is sitting on my desk. I look forward to reading it this evening.

the article is excellent. it is by the author of "Liar's Poker." Meriwether of LTCM was challenged to play a game of Liar's poker for 1 million; he upped the ante to 10 million and avoieded the game. the article makes the point they relied on math models that were too rational and didnt factor a 1 in 50 million chance of extrme panic. the article also says what we lived thru last Auguest was the worst stock and bond market panic EVER.
