Yousef,
RE:"Right now, I'm "short" AMD and I expect to
cover
my position when AMD gets into the "teens"."

Yousef, AMD hit the teens and you missed an opportunity.
I'd say there is a 50-50 shot of seeing 18.

Jim

Yousef,

AMD is BEHIND Intel in IC process technology and this is the primary reason that AMD cannot "field" CPU's that run as fast as Intel's. This "disadvantage" has cost AMD shareholders a lot of money.

Every once in a while you say something that makes sense. Congratulations!

If you're right, hmm, AMD has a ways to go down. I'm certainly not as knowledgeable about cpu technology as you are. What is the IC process anyway, without getting too technical?

Your reply would be welcome

Steven

Yousef,

Re: Pentium ID flash .

Yousef, would welcome your thoughts on the cost impact to INTC of the Pentium ID. Paul has stated that this is a flash based structure.

To my knowledge Flash adds several masking layers and adds to defect density for the overall chip. In the commercial foundry market Flash wafers run 20-30% more expensive than Logic wafers.

This seems like a heavy price to pay just to have the ID.

Do you know of any other reasons Intel may be adding flash to the CPU process.

A "bi-partisan" factual answer would be appreciated.

Regards,

Kash
