Jay, I am not too familiar with the LG?Hyundai situation, but I have a "gut feeling" that the struggle was at the top, the employees will be happy to keep their jobs, at least those that will have that opportunity. The top ranks will be thinned, otherwise, why merge?

All in all, it will make the situation a little more tight for MU, but the competitive fervor may diminish a little.

I think the combined company will result in 2 intermediate companies becoming 1 good company. LG brings capacity, Hyundai brings DRAM design capability. LG designs were loaned by Hitachi which we have witnessed is not so good as Hitachi exited by divesting to TI who divested to Micron. A weak DRAM competitor is eliminated. LG brings more consumer electronics market to the semiconductor side.
