Can't you just shove a few million transistors into the design and hope they will do something useful?

Isn't that an Intel tradition? Like a 4 way superscalar PII which runs slower than a 2-way MII. Or the 2MB L2 on a desktop CPU that you have been bragging about.

Intel should be putting their cheap transistors to work designing a graphics chip which doesn't rely heavily on any CPU math instructions, or on DRDRAM on the motherboard. I can imagine the politics involved with being a graphics designer for Intel.
