MIPs makes alot of different licensable designs. The highend/expensive MIPS Risc chips that go into things like SGI boxes are made by NEC/Toshiba (as founderies). I see IDT involved with other 32/64MIP famililies and their business is typified by their recent announcement to make the first 32 bit risc chip (embedded) for under $5. (The WINCHIP in this context is a similar (lowcost) business model brought to the Intel/X86 world.)
