Immune response, diabetes: It would be nice if we
could get a bit more idea about the prospects for
diabetes and ctii's encapsulization technolgogy with
stem cells...I will copy a post I put over on the "99"
thread here and also read the news item Miljenko posted
earlier from this url--

thereby "negate the need for immunosuppression"
if they were grafted into the body

*Continued stem cell subthread*--diabetes:

I guess the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette went to
Dr. Block because he was close by...he is the
co-director of the Protein Technology Center at
the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine...

...Block also is trying to apply these techniques to
pancreatic islet cells, insulin-producing cells that
might be used to treat diabetes (snip) He said the Italian-
Canadian study "is good science and it's good functional
science." Unlike Block's experiments in petri dishes, the
scientists accomplished what appears to be a transdifferentiation
of the stem cells in a living animal.

So I would imagine those biotechs focusing on stem cell
research all have research on diabetes going...

so also note this PR from last month...

Diabetes had not been at the forefront in my mind--I'd
been focusing my thoughts on CNS and especially Parkinson's.
But this part of the puzzle is also very interesting...especially
if a very small company like ctii, happens to win the race...

Of course I'd be pleased if one of the big cap pharma or
big cap biotech companies realized suddenly that this
microcap stock has a lead over everybody else and simply
made a deal with ctii, or made a bid outright for the company.
Of course who can say if ctii or Geron or one of the big
caps themselves has the lead. I suppose a couple of Ph D's
with the help of a few patent attorneys could do the
exercise...a shame that all most of us can do is throw darts,
but that will have to do.
