CPQ is gold

Compaq CEO sees DEC integration on track

NEW YORK, Jan 26 (Reuters) - Compaq Computer Corp. will say the integration of its $8.4
billion acquisition of Digital Equipment has met and partially exceeded the goals Compaq set for
the business when it reports fourth-quarter results Wednesday, Compaq's chief executive said on Tuesday.

Eckhard Pfeiffer, president and CEO of Compaq, the world's largest personal computer maker, made the comments ahead of
a press conference at which Compaq will announce plans to spinoff its AltaVista Internet unit.

''We have set very ambitious goals'' for the integration of Digital into Compaq, Pfeiffer told Reuters. ''We have met and
partially exceeded those goals,'' he added.

Wall Street analysts expect the computer maker to report earnings of $0.37 per share when it announces its end of year
results Wednesday.

This CA person always has CNBC on first thing in the morning. 5:30 am for Squawkbox! Was happy
to hear the news about CPQ this morning. BTW, whatever happened to the CPQ50 party? Although
on Yahoo & here it shows a 52 week high of over 50, that must have been intraday? Hoping it will hit
closing of 50 today because it's my birthday. What a great present, eh?

Chris,

Its my birthday too! Good present this morning. Hope the stock price doesn't hit my birthday number (42) again! :-)

**OT Chris and Jeff**

First Chris: I am not sure if the PAC50 got changed to PAC60, but I have been under the assumption that whatever the PAC is, CPQ has to stay above the figure rather than merely touch it.

Now to serenade you two. I have received a number of compliments on another thread for my nightingale voice so here goes:

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear Chris and Jeff,
Happy birthday to you.

I'll cross my fingers both of you gets at least one birthday present today that is as much a nice surprise as the AV spin-off shares.

Regards,

Lynn
