He offered the B shares not as a substitute for splitting, but felt forced to when he became aware of a plan by a monied group to buy a large number of A shares and create a unit trust, and sell lower-priced "units" (fractional shares + usurious commissions) to individuals. He has said he doesn't split the stock because he wants "his kind of group" (long term hold) investing with him.
