Michael: I agree with your tone, but wouldn't agree that the move from mid $30's to high $40's has been on AV speculation: I think it has been on earnings speculation: AV spec kicked in when it got to $45/46.

Rambling Crown-Royal'd Michael,
The AV announcement has muddled the water on the run up. If none of the big guys are running at this point, it is a good sign. It sure gave the traders buying for a preannouncement run up a profitable exit today. Maybe that will serve to smooth the road tomorrow for those interested in the longer view.

I have learned not to predict CPQ's day to day moves. Tomorrow the market might explode and Compaq lose 1/2 point. The market could lose a 100 points and Compaq go to to 55. At times, this stock has a mind of it's own.
