Doc, I've had my share of battles with Greenline. The one that has me ticked off right now is as follows: The market is very volatile these days, and we are probably going to see some sharp corrections. So, I'd like to put in some buys, well below current stock prices. I tried a week or 2 ago to put in a buy for ATHM at 82, when the stock was about 102. It had just dipped to 80 a couple of days before, when news of Brazil came out. If you try to put in an order like this with Webbroker, it will refuse it. The message says you are too far below the current stock price, please call a trader.

And again I must ask why we Canadians stand for this type of incompetence and bad service. In the states they would never stand for this. Of course they have more than enough competition that would love to have your account. In Canada no one cares if they lose you as a customer because where are you going to go? The bad service extends to almost every retail business not just the brokerages. Whether you are buying pants or IBM, the lack of respect and contempt shown customers always amazes me.

Anyways that's my rant (again) for today. Actually I was thinking of checking out Swiftrade not to open an account but rather to open a franchise in Western Canada. Anyone interested? They mention the franchising opportunities on their webpage.

Essam.

You guys should move to Kitchener/Waterloo or something :)

I swing/day trade options through Greenline, and while their website is usually horrendously slow (esp. between 9:30 and 10), the customer service I've gotten has been excellent. They must route calls to a local center, since when I dial 1-800-465-LINE they usually pick up on the 1st or 2nd ring, and there's no voice mail or any options to choose. A live trader right away. All of them are licensed and knowledgable in options too. Very nice!

Now, afterhours when I get routed to Toronto is a different story.

What kinds of problems have you had trading on their websites? I've experienced lots of slowness and "Error 92002"'s, but never had any mistakes.

James.
