How does Buy.com do their distribution?

Everytime I buy a book I consistently get a 8-25% discount compared to AMZN when I use Buy.com. Besides making no profit (like AMZN), how do they do it? Do orders just take longer with Buy.com? I have not noticed any difference in order times.
