Also posted to the ALSC board on the the theme of "underlying value of assets" in regards to ISSI. Any further clarification would be helpful.

I seem to remember reading that he ISSI Mgt rationale (for selling) was that they needed to own less than 50% of ISSI-Taiwan due to local island IPO rules.

Therefor if I have it right:

ISSI-Taiwan, which owns shares in UMC & possibly other assets (& close to 50% owned by ISSI), plans for a IPO in the next 12 months to the benefit of ISSI and local private ISSI-Taiwan owners.
