I think it was a good idea and not just in the parliamentary sense. The Republicans will have to be fed bits of "encouragement" to keep this going on for the rest of the year, and Feingold's "crossing over" is just the right kind of "carrot" that will ensure that their wild-goose chase is still on!

Can't afford to let them get discouraged and call the whole show off, can we? ;-)

The papers here were talking about Feingold crossing the party line ever since he moved to split the dismissal motion by article. What can I say, he's independent minded and the Republicans were nuts when they made him their primary target in the Nov. elections. But, it's not exactly news that the Republicans are nuts these days.

Feingold went on record with some fairly negative views on Clinton when the Lewinsky matter broke. How he'll actually vote in the end, I wouldn't guess. We're neighbors of a sort, his house is about 1/2 mile from mine, but we're not acquaintances. His brother-in-law has a kid in my daughter's kindergarten class, though.
