It is not a question of bitterness towards a company, true, there are a select few that HAVE options, and still there are many that HAVE NOT. Makes no difference whether you perform or not. The HR issues are terrible, job slotting, budgeting, the list goes on with the acquisitions. I dont think its a question of cushy, it's more like, what do you get as a new employee from an acquisition? The benefits VARY Drastically from UUNET, WCOM, ANS , SNS, MCI and so on.

True, if you are a select few, or have been positioned with the right organization within WCOM, you may be fairly wealthy by todays standards for a typical option holder, however, within the company, NOT ALL Employees are created equal, so to speak.....

Potential, Great Company, Reality,----Hire new HR Staff

I am not bitter at all. I have owned a substantial amount of both wcom and mcic for years and have watched both cultures. In my opinion MCI employees once were entrepreneurial but then got fat, lazy and bureaucratic. Wcom has not been that way and as long as Bernie is there he won't allow it! Had MCI not been fat it would not have been as nice a purchase. It would been been a real laugh had GTE bought them because all the fat from both companies could have been rolled over together -- spaking of laggards!
