<<SLIGHTLY OT>>
The more MRVC runs up, the more tempting it is to place a stop loss under it but my experience too often on NASDAQ stocks is that the MM's apparently move the price down and take out the stops from time to time. Do others here have the same observation? Have any of you developed a rubric for how far below the price you have to go before a stop is safe? Bruce L., does level II distinguish between stops and other kinds of orders?

Yesterdays action in Visio (VSIO) is an example of what appears to me to be this kind of manipulation. I once had my VSIO stock taken out at least 2 points below the normal trading range. The intraday chart for that day showed a virtually straight down drop to the stop price on my shares and then a straight shot back up. It is very frustrating. I wish the SEC cared as much about protecting us from this kind of apparent manipulation as they do about protecting the brokerage houses from losses due to internut stock volatility.

Looks like a good day coming up.

Bob

Eight Other Companies with New Products and Services in Networking,
Communications Receive Recognition at NPAA

A new product from an emerging company earned this year's 'Best of Show' award at ComNet/DC
'99, besting other established networking communications companies for the distinction.
New Access Communications' MetroFusion WDM System, was recognized as the Most Innovative
New Product in ComNet/DC '99's New Product Achievement Awards competition.
Sponsored by IDG's InfoWorld, The New Product Achievement Awards competition recognizes the

telecommunications conference and exposition taking place Jan. 25 through 28 at the Washington, D.C.
Convention Center and Renaissance Hotel.
MetroFusion is an entirely new network architecture, combining Dense Wave Division Multiplexing
technology and data switching to deliver high bandwidth to customers in the local loop.
"The MetroFusion 800 architecture is the first product from New Access Communications, and
ComNet is the first introduction of this company and this technology to the marketplace," said Near
Margalit, president, New Access Communications of Santa Barbara, CA. "This system sets a new
benchmark in the DWDM industry. New Access Communications is the first to combine a
commercially viable DWDM system with data switching."

A panel of judges consisting of representatives from the trade and business press, industry research
firms, the financial community and academia chose finalists in each of the above eight categories. The
finalists were evaluated on the basis of innovation, industry contribution, integration with current product
lines, migration capabilities and return on investment.
To qualify for the competition, products must have been introduced for the first time at ComNet/DC,
or announced eight weeks prior to ComNet and cannot have been introduced or exhibited in the same
form at previous trade shows.
"The NPAA competition levels the playing field, allowing new products from large and small
companies alike, to be matched up against one another," said Phil Branon, publisher of Infoworld
magazine.
All of the New Product Achievement Awards finalists will remain on display through January 28,
1999 at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center, and can be identified on the exposition floor by
large, blue and white "winner" ribbons.
ComNet/Washington, D.C. is expected to attract close to 50,000 professionals to the Washington,
