One possibility is that the MM's and institutions have shaken all the inventory they need out of the pockets of the small investors, and are lying in wait for the big pop associated with the earnings and other announcements. They might trade among themselves for a couple days to keep the interest level in the issue high, but wait a week or so for the big move... Just be careful when it does pop up, as these same vultures will be quick to take profits and muscle the price back to earth. "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em".
