Therefore, if you were long which would you rather own: AMZN or AMZN w/a 4.75% "dividend."

I guess that is my problem. I can't see the long position at these prices. Given the snowballing going on, we now actually seem to be into the Joke status of selling dollar bills for 95 cents. Just issue debt and make it in many deep pocket interests to support the stock price. Ponzi scheme comes to mind and this is making my head hurt trying to go through all the ramifications.

Seems like it all boils down to a preferred stock offering, by another name, which takes advantage of the lunacy of the Inut mania. What makes it so hokey is they would increase the offering by 150% in a matter of hours. Next we will hear they have announced a common stock buyback. -ng- I suppose they will retire the existing zeros, although I don't know what the features are on that issue.

Regards, Ice

Yo -- Somebody mentioned the idea that buyers of the convert would then short the stock and sell calls -- does this make sense to you?

This is where I am confused. How does AMZN pay the dividend?
