reported Q4 net of $0.16 a share after the close, excluding write-off, which was a penny below reduced expectations... Company announced plans to reduce its staff by 6% while also noting it will take a charge of about $175 mln in its first quarter for the formation of a new business group... Street takes a dim view of companies missing estimates, and an even dimmer one of those restating earnings which is what PSFT said it may do for 1996, 1997, and 1998... Oh yeah, and they also said stiffer competition may hurt future results... Not exactly a way to win over investors.
