Regarding the four per cent rule, it never ceases to amaze me that some people (not Justa) see fit to trash Brinker over specific statements and/or recommendations while ignoring his counsel on risk management. It just makes no sense to judge the effectiveness of an investment program with essential components removed. It would be like buying a car, removing the brakes, and complaining to the manufacturer that the car was unsafe.

To Bob Brinker: I wish you a the happiest and healthiest anniversary yet on completing 13 years of the Moneytalk Program. Like I'm sure most of your wise listeners, I selfishly wish you at least another 13 years on the program. Acting on your advice since early 1990 has grown our financial assets way beyond what we ever dreamed possible. It's not only that you educate your millions of listeners to help themselves become financially savvy and secure, it's that many recipients of this knowledge take that gained knowledge and spread it by helping others educate and help themselves - this is obvious from looking at the quality of the posts on your own discussion group at the bobbrinker.com. And then there's the motivation you instill in listeners to do good with the assets they accumulate. It must and rightfully should give you tremendous inner satisfaction knowing that you have helped and continue to help so many. You are the greatest, Bob, and always will be in my book !
