Sonny ---Lu does not have enough shares available for a 2 for one split . In the proxy they sent out just recently they were asking shareholders permission to double the amount of authorize share from 3 billion to six billion share . The board meets FEB 17---this is when I think they will announced a split : "The 1999 annual meeting of shareowners will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at The Playhouse Theatre, DuPont Building, 10th and Market streets, Wilmington, Del. As a convenience, shareowners of record may vote their proxies via the Internet at lucent.proxyvoting.com. Or to vote by phone, call toll-free 1 800 293-5876. sonny, i don't know what happend to LU but i guess the street did not like revenue numbers for ibm and lu. but ibm split any way. Lu will come thru. If i had thought about i could have asked my LU friends today. i forgot my computer at someone's house so there was no need for me to wake up today so i slept thru most of the day and now wide eyes and working. I just now found out u were sick again ??? oh boy...when it rains it pours at ur house. we will have to fix Lu somehow and get it to split. maybe it would be too confusing w. asnd merger and they might want some more time due to that. hum.. maybe the extra shares were for that reason? who knows. i m getting tired of the split stuff cuz stocks should not go up on split announcments. Analysts need to do a better job of predicitng growth ratios and economy. what's split go to do with it? i m afraid if dell does not announce a split what will happen to the technology sector? Cuz advances in naz make me feel like i m dancing on a VERY HIGH HEELS shoes and any crack could trip us. absloute perfection will be expected in erning, outlook and split
