Just an FYI for the thread, I understand that Gerstner's 1999 kickoff
speech and Q&A to the world-wide employee population went over very
well, was very candid and very focused on 1999 objectives. Typically,
after a pep talk like that IBM has done something to kick start the
year. Maybe announce more money allocated for buybacks, some
acquisition or something. Or maybe nothing will happen. Dont know
but I would expect that if the stock continues to languish in this
range there will be at least an opportunity for their Treasury
Operations to buy back some of the stock they intend to take in this
quarter. So, unless there is some overall market correction, we may
see a short term bottom forming in this general area. Just an opinion
and observation, nothing more.

my friend bot a DELL notebook... maybe three months ago... still under warranty...

something went wrong with the hard drive and DELL won't take it back they expect the buyer to open the notebook up and fix the problem...

i think this part of DELL's business model is BS... cheap ass, mo fo's...

at least IBM isn't so greedy that it won't spend some money for customer satisfaction after the sale...

i mean come on, DELL.... it's true it's cheaper DELL not to have a repair center.... but then... how many average households would buy a PC from DELL if they knew they had to open it up and fix it themselves when it is under warranty....

i will post this on the DELL thread too cuz i know it has more to do with them...
