The Small contract trades just about around the clock.

When you posted that, it was trading on Globex. It starts to trade on RTH at 9:15 Eastern. The Large contract stops trading on Globex at 9:15 and then starts in Chicago at 9:30.

Some people use the 15 minutes as a barometer. That is to say, if the E-Mini rises during that time some people Sell the Open on the spoo believing that the pits will gun down the small traders in the E-Mini arena.

Me, I have a life to live, it's too much trouble.

Here's an interesting observation from an Options pro.

With three weeks until the options expire there is no rush for the call writers (sellers) to take the market lower, but somewhere between now and February 19th prices will likely get hit hard.
