Anybody know anything specific about the Plexwriter 12x/4x Internal
CD-R drive? It has a 2-meg buffer. Yes, I'm thinking about
trying another plextor. I even have a Plextor CD drive configured
on upcoming machine.

Takes a caddy (yug) but I have a bushel of 'em, and anyhow maybe
not so bad for a writer.

I'm worried about heat and/or vibration, which have been my
and ZP's experiences. Any specifics on this particular drive?

Or anybody have another recommendation for CD-R. I'm looking for
internal, 4x write (got 2x already), and SCSI. Or faster write.
I don't care so much about read speed.

TIA,

Spots

They do look to me like sturdier, better ventilated units than the cheap plastic ones I've used for years with no problem, so I'm optimistic.

I have three CDROM drives in my new machine ( Toshiba IDE 32X, Plextor SCSI 8X audio extraction source drive and the Ricoh SCSI CDRW).

I placed the drives in alternate bays. If I place them directly on top of each other there is almost no space between the drives.

If I were to use a removable tray with vents on top of the drive I do not see how air will come out of the vents.

I am interested in your observations once you receive the trays. Specifically if there is a mount for a small fan in the back.
