Bob:<<And would someone PLEASE tell me what to do with my NVLS and TER? >>

Bob, I don't own TER or NVLS but I am long AMAT and like you with TER and NVLS have ridden AMAT up from the mid 20s. I am not going to sell AMAT at this time. AMAT announces earnings on 02/10/99 and expectations are high that they will beat the estimates. If so, not only will AMAT get another boost {not that they need another one}but I suspect TER and NVLS will as well. I think I will sort things out after that announcement. Of course, I do have a stop loss in place for 50% of my position just in case.... Jeff

Bob, My Take on the SemiEquipment Makers

I like many others here have ridden Amat, Brks, Klac, Nvls and Ter all the way up from their bottoms in September. I feel, at this point in time, they are fully valued...Price to book on Amat is about 6.8, Nvls around 6, and Klac and Ter near 4.0. (I am sure someone can give more uptodate price to book numbers.) There are few fab facilities being built this year and with the general equity market at full valuation at 1275 on the S and P...I decided to take my profits at this point and sell them all.

At some point this year, there will be a correction, a pullback, and much profit taking. I believe I will have a chance to buy all the aforementioned equities back at 20%-30% cheaper than they are right now. The profits in these companies came easy and fast and I was interested in taking these easy and fast profits; they do not come along often.

I am willing to be patient and wait for lower prices before I buy these companies once more. Always remember that the markets usually give you a second chance.
