(NYSE: TER - news) announced it has received multiple orders for the ARIES/Castle integrated test cell for use in the production testing of Direct RAMBUS DRAM. Scheduled to begin shipping in second quarter 1999, the high throughput test cell combines the high parallelism and fault coverage of Teradyne's ARIES memory test system with the fast index time and small footprint of Delta Design's Castle memory test handler. ''The ARIES/Castle test cell is ideally suited for production volume testing of Direct RAMBUS DRAM,'' said Glenn Farris, ARIES product manager. ''The ARIES provides the memory and logic test capability necessary to perform at-speed testing of the memory array through the logic interface of the Direct RAMBUS device while the Castle provides the fast index time and reliability needed for optimal utilization of the ARIES,'' Farris added. The ARIES RAM test platform tests up to 16 devices in parallel at data rates up to 1.0 Gtransfers/sec. Teradyne and Delta Design have worked closely together for the last two years to integrate the Castle memory test handler with the ARIES as well as Teradyne's Marlin-J996 memory test system. Delta Design has been a member of Teradyne's Integrated Suppliers Program (ISP) since its inception over two years ago. An innovative approach to providing fully integrated test solutions, the Integrated Suppliers Program was created to support three common goals among ISP partners: codesign of new products from concept to delivery, co-operative factory integration of complete systems, and joint continuous improvement of the product in the field.
