Can anyone help me out with this?

I got one of those Nokia phones when AT&T first came out with their one rate plan(the first week if I recall correctly). It was great for a while.

I drive into NYC every day, and I like to use the time to make my phone calls. Lately, the transmission quality has gotten horrible. I complained to AT&T, and they basically said they're sorry, but there are just too many people signing up, and there is nothing they can do about it. I am not willing to go on with this level of service (I lose at least three calls each way-every day at the approach to the Lincoln tunnel, I can tell exactly where it will drop off. When I try to reconnect the call, it never goes through.

Does anyone have experience with another carrier in this location that is happy with their service? I like the features of a digital phone, but mostly I want to be able to make and take phone calls. I've heard that analog quality is much better (even though it is quite a bit more expensive, I would gladly make the trade off) I know a friend on BA with a Motorola that always gets quality and clear analog transmission. That's what I'm leaning toward.

I like the things Sprint and Q are talking about - I've thought for a long time that the only thing missing from my Palm Pilot was a phone, and the pdq sounds like it will be attractive (but if I end up throwing it at the floor as hard as I throw my Nokia, it probably won't last long).

Any suggestions appreciated.
