Women I've spoken to say that they know what brand of perfume they like and just want to get for the best price. That's where perfumania.com comes in. :-)

Maryann, if the products they carry were that attractive or up-to-date then why has the company continually lost money year over year. Last year they lost over 20 million dollars.

Why does the department stores, who also have web sites, have the market shares on perfume? If their prices are discounted so much, why werent people going there in the first place?
The reason why they can discount so much is because it is not the latest model.

I have the luxury of speaking to Department stores' marketing/product developement executives and that is how I understand this.

And last but not least, EVERYONE should ask this question. Would you drive to your local department store to smell the latest fragrance, leave the store, go to the internet and buy the product just to save 2 or 3 dollars. Isnt your time going to the store, wear and tear on your vehicle of choice and gas worth more than 2 or 3 dollars.
