I think your figures are off. They didn't lose $20 million. I think it was more like $6.2 million. The past is the past. Stocks trade on the future and PRFM should start making money.

<<<Would you drive to your local department store to smell the latest fragrance, leave the store, go to the internet and buy the product just to save 2 or 3 dollars. Isnt your time going to the store, wear and tear on your vehicle of choice and gas worth more than 2 or 3
dollars.

No offense Ralph, but Im not sure what perfume your wife wears... but most of the "top line" perfumes are in the $50+ range...ever go to Hudsons?

So a $2-$3 savings would be about 5% off a department store, and I believe PRFM touts 20-40% off? correct me if Im wrong.. or maybe I just run in a crowd of high maintenance gals, cuz I dont know many who wear $8/bottle perfume.

Mark

Ralph -- I don't know why Perfumania isn't making money -- expenses higher than income would be my guess.

Your comment was about the quality of perfume in the stores -- my response is that they have quality brands in the Perfumania stores. Most people know what perfume to buy -- and the savings are considerable. My favorite 3.3oz perfume sells for $60 in Macy's department store -- exact same thing in Perfumania is $36. This is not my opinion -- this is my experience. By the way, I just checked the ALU site - The Fragrance Counter - and my brand is $75 -- this is $15 higher than Macy's and $39 more than Perfumania (last time I checked the counter at Christmas, it was 10% less than Macy's).
JMO Perfumania is going to kick butt on the web!!

Ralph - some thoughts on PRFM's online venture and it's possible success (or failure).

I'll start by saying I live just 10 miles from one the "shopping meca's" of the world - Paramus, NJ.

Although I do not know much about the perfume business, I can only hope that we hear PRFM ads much like the ones we hear from "Beyond.com".

People buy products from a particular retailer or manufacturer for the "benefits" it gives them! perfume is perfume and can be bought at any store for varying prices. The BENEFIT of shopping at PRFM online is the reason I don't go anywhere near Paramus most days of the week. TRAFFIC, CONGESTION, AROGANT SHOPPERS (I get enough of THAT here :-]), LINES, AGGRESSIVE SALES PEOPLE, LIMITED SHOPPING HOURS, SHOULD I CONTINUE????

From the small sample of women who have posted here, it seems they buy the same perfume all the time - NO NEED TO SMELL OR TOUCH AT A STORE - so why go to a mall when the BENEFIT of shopping online is much more appealing!

There are many near term and long term variables missing from the PRFM internet picture right now - it's unfortunate that the traders who have joined the thread recently have manipulated most of us into a heated, emotional frenzy vs. a rational discussion of why this is (OR ISN'T) a good investment (long or short). Then again, trading has everything to do with emotion and little to do with fact!!!

Good luck to all investors and traders!!

dave!
