You have probably heard and will hear a variety of reasons for
not owning CPQ, from stuffing the channel, to apathetic, and egotistic
management, conflict with retailers vs direct, confusion of direction, they better give me shares of AV, and you'll never beat
Dell.
Compaq has demonstrated to me their efforts to strive to improve
their image and sometimes that is at shareholders expense. Also as share holders, management has a vested interest to continue to see the share price rise and therefore at least good investor pr.I do
think management has gotten weak legs at times but not fallen down
as reflected in the last eps. If you are confident in the company
(management) then be comfortable in your investment here. After
all, I just paid for my lifetime here on SI with my profits from
CPQ (he said with a laugh).
Welcome to the land of Compaq
