The news items quoting this UK doctor Kirby are confusing. it appears that it is being said that viagra can cause impotence for two reaons

1. As a result of priapism
2. Through some as yet unclearly identified mechanism.

As far as I know there is no evidence that use of viagra in moderate doses by impotent or normal men can damage the penis. However we do not yet know what the long term effects of viagra use are.

I have been told recently that in the UK many of the cases cases of priapism are among young normal potent men taking 100mg or more.
