Speculation on Monday's action...

The general rule on splits seems to be that
the day the split becomes effective there
will be a moderate sell off. Net stocks,
however can prove exceptions to any rule.
AMZN, for example had a huge ramp up the
day its most recent split became effective.

E*Trade management has recently been very
actively, and I think skillfully, managing
the stock by releasing good news constantly
and at crucial points. So, I think they
will be ready with some good press releases
on Monday to get the stock over the
post-split blues. Overall I expect
Monday's action to be positive.

I'm not a big fan of the cost-effectiveness of commercials on the Super Bowl--sure, there's a huge audience, but about 1/2 the people watching are at parties where the noise level is huge, people are getting drunk, and their attention-span for anything other than football is very limited. If I were E*Trade, I'd save my money...
