I'm preparing to build another system and have been trying to digest reports on the Celeron 366 and 400.....the 366 OC'ed to 458 looks pretty good. Would this combo be less inclined to stability problems than a 300 OC'ed to 450? Also, I'm wondering if the BH6 supports the 366 as is w/ existing BIOS? Thanks.

Dave

I would also argue simultaneously that the first primary partition on the C drive should be a FAT partition because of universal accessibility, and probably that backup OSs should go there for the same reason.

So we are starting with two partitions on the first physical (or only physical) drive? A 1 gig FAT C followed by a D: NTFS partition? (assuming a one harddrive system)

For a BACKUP OS, one which you will minimally maintain, the ultimate KOT cluge for when all else fails to keep from resorting to booting from floppy,

Where is this backup OS? Are you talking about the smallish FAT partition on the C drive?

to keep from resorting to booting from floppy

I have so many important floppies I can't find them all. Last..last..last resort IMO.

a smallish FAT partition is arguably (I argue) the right strategy.

I want a big C drive. I will argue for the FAT on the second drive. I would like to have a complete self contained operating system with all apps on the primary C. I want the ancillary functions as an adjunct..one reason is I do now want to deal with drive letter issues wrt harddrives. Also I want a system that is easy to restore. I do not want to have to restore two images to make one work.

My current vision is a large first physical with one partition (not counting hidden partitions that make use of otherwise wasted harddrive space).

The first physical is formatted in the format of choice for the OS of choice..NTFS for NT or FAT 32 for Win95/98.

The first partition on the second drive is FAT. This is our boot in lieu of floppy. This second drive needs at least two partitions. One for the boot OS (whatever it is) and one to store images.

I will stop here because I am not sure I understand your proposal
