When I went to Tulane, I experienced first hand being rejected by a Jewish man, he was a friend of a friend of my husband. My husband's friend was a non-practicing Jew, and his friend was a deeply religious, orthodox Jew, who simply had little or nothing to do with non-Jews. I thought he was very rude, and I did not like it one bit. His behaviour still rankles, in retrospect, even at this late date. I have since had not dissimilar experiences with Middle Eastern Muslim men and Sikh men, and suspect that at least a little bit of it was simply misogyny, but he was rude to my husband, as well, so I know it was not just that.
