Now they want government hand outs, after they helped bring it
on by gouging us for $25 & $26 dollar oil a year ago.

You know Jim I had not thought of that. By george I agree with you on that one. They should have saved some of that windfall profit the made off us for bad times.

Jim,

Originally, I was reluctant to post these thoughts, but hearing the BUBBLE theory mentioned so often, I decided to. I think I will be hated after saying the following. Personally I try to follow the philosophy of balance in life, main doctrine of YING/YANG.

I view our society and a major part of the world as getting out of balance. Viewing civilization from its inception I feel that the whole world is now in a bubble, not just the market.

Lets take technology - lets say the oldest civilizations started 5000-6000 years ago. From the beginning until lets say the 1800's there were great advances in technology - bow&arrow, gunpowder, gutenberg press, cotton mill, steam engine. Now in the early 1900's man first flew a plane and in only 60-70 years man got to the moon. Life expectancy in the modern world had grown substantially due to the huge medical advances. I believe life expectancy in the 1800's averaged around or below 60 and now its approaching 80. All done in a wink of an eye when compared to the beginning of civilization.

With all the good attributes from these fabulous advancements there are also plenty of negative social attributes. Diseases which civilization, previously never knew about, like AIDs, anorexia, etc. Materialism/greed at extremely high levels. Im not saying that there wasnt high levels of materialism in feudal times or anyothe time, just that its at extreme levels again. Then we can talk about the new types of crimes which came with the advancements, civilization has never seen before.

My feeling that both the good and bad of the recent advancements are now creating a bubble. From a YING/YANG perspective, there isnt really good or bad - just "IS".

There were always bubbles throughout history, and I believe they all went through corrective phases, by either wars or natural disasters. I dont view it as a bad thing, but as a neccessity. Even in the stock market, all say that the market cant go straight up and most say that corrections are needed to continue up. Although I sound like a dooms-dayer, Im really not, since I just believe there a necessity for a corrective period in civilization and sub-sectors to continue onwards.

It is wildly accepted that thruout civilization there has been some sort of disasted such as WAR, every 50 years. And I understand that statistically it has a probability of close to 100%. Here is a scarey thought for Americans who have not seen the devestation of war on the mainland for over 100 years, and that is with all the technological advancements it is now easier to bring warfare to the U.S. mainland thru biological, chemical, and nuclear methods. Most are aware that the plans for an atomic bomb was on the internet, and that technology is not longer that advance.

I am not saying a war will happen right away, but just that civilization as a whole is also reaching BUBBLE stage, not just the stock market.

Many will argue that we are in a new paradigm - well thruout history that excuse was also used. Just try to put yourself back into the 1400-1500's when new worlds were being discovered while most thought that the world was flat.

I know, I just ruined everyones weekend. Sorry
