Will it compete directly w/ CPQ's alpha?
No, K7 is a 32 bit design, ALpha is 64. AMD plans to use the Alpha bus structure (which is higher speed than current Intel designs) for their 32 bit chips. This will allow CPQ to make a single base design which can support either 32 bit AMD or 64 bit Alpha processors - but not Intel processors.
