DOS has a real bad attitude, doesn't it <g>

Yes

Hit pause..if you are quick enough..and you can stop the screen. Pause? or spacebar? gets you going again.

Why don't you post your config.sys and autoexec.bat contents..not that I will know what to do with it<g>

Did you change the autoexec.bat or config.sys on the harddrive?

The f8 key method of swiching to dos also does not appear to be working but the restart in MSDOS method does.

What do your autoexec.bat, autoexec.dos, config.sys, config.bat files on the harddrive look like? (if they exist) and what are the file time stamps?

Your config.sys file should have exactly one line in it:

DRIVE= ...

Your autoexec.bat file should have exactly one line it it:

MSCDEX.EXE ...

Of course, fill in the blanks where there are dots as discussed.
