Frank knows what's what. He's got piles of dough anyway. Besides, maybe ATHM is preparing to tank. Looks like a head is being put in place and there is insufficient volume. Volume will have to rise significantly to advance price at this level. I don't know if the old gal has enough gas left to do it. You seem very concerned that he might miss it. That is a dangerous psychology to have. Usually indicates you are going to be punished. If that happens, apply your balm to yourself and keep your eye on the long term.

Wingman, I have some sound reasons for not disclosing some of my investments, and for refraining from investing in certain sectors altogether. I can't comment, as much as I would like to, on your advice as it pertains to myself and how I will treat ATHM as an investment vehicle.

But I can comment on my views concerning ATHM from the standpoint of its viability, and what I've learend recently since my search began here only a short while ago, relatively speaking.

I was caught off guard, surprised even, to see the level of preparedness and achievement that has gone into ATHM's planning and execution thus far, although I don't know how the turmoil in the industry-in-general of the recent past, and particularly the changes that are soon to take effect within TCI's fabric, are going to affect it going forward.

I would guess that with T in the background now (and in the foreground when it must be), there will be stability on board, at whatever cost, to ensure that it remains on course.

That is not to say, however, that I am assured that some shift may not take place to disrupt the entire model. Rather, I feel that if any ISP or multi-modal Internet play is on the path to making broadband work (there I go, even I'm using that term now), it would be ATHM.

Thank you for your concerns and the measures you've taken here to enlighten me on the perils associated with excessive scrutiny. Be assured, however, that I've already formulated a rather constant opinion of ATHM by now, suject to changes with the changing tides, of course <g>, but for now I like what I've come to see. As for it's future ups and downs in market pricing, that part is less of a science, and best left to others to predict. Even, like you say, if they are dumber than I am.

Best Regards, Frank Coluccio

Wingman, buddy,
I laughed out loud,
when i read this:

'There are many many dumb rich people
who became rich because they were too stupid
to know that they might fail.
'
